The tutorials I have been working with all say to have it in Ortho perspective and choose the view i want it in. Tl dr: Kinda depends on what you want to do (/get good at) and where you want to work, but starting anywhere is better than not starting.I'm new to Blender and I am trying to model an old truck.
Blender is free, so if you don't have access to c4d, it's definitely a great start. C4D is good to learn because of the massive amounts of learning resources available. The best thing to do when starting out is learning concepts and principles, then it'll be easier to apply techniques when/if shifting softwares. Chances are: studios use different softwares, and if you're getting a job at a new studio you'd have to know/learn that software. Considering price, obviously blender wins, but personally I don't know if that makes it objectively better, just a good starting software.
A lot of softwares do most of the stuff you can imagine you'd need, but blender is the only one that's free.

The problem with comparing software is that all softwares have strengths and weaknesses. Overall, these pieces of software take years to learn, but once you get one down, you can learn others much more easily, I would recommend doing a bit of research into C4D before you decide if it's for you, but personally, I chose blender after following 1 tutorial in every 3D software i could get my hands on, and then went with what felt best for me, back when I had no idea what I was doing, and I haven't regretted it.Ĭ4D is considered industry leading in motion graphics. However, C4D has direct integrations to Adobe After Effects i believe, so if you do a lot of video editing work there, it may be worth looking into. C4D is much more user friendly, and a little easier to learn, however, if you can get past the UI which (was recently updated in Blender to be not-awful) and the learning curve, Blender's tool set is more powerful, and it can do things other software struggles with.Īlso i'm a student, Blender's free, C4D isn't, so, can't be leaving that point out. I'll preface with two things: 1) I'm somewhat biased towards blender, 2) I don't have experience with C4D, but I do know a number of people who've used it and their reviews in comparison to similar software.įrom what I've heard, yes, it's better. There are three main active projects right now: It's actually been done before by the community a couple times, though these projects are mostly dead. The codebases might even be significantly different, but as long as the clientside movement calculation is mostly the same (and currently it is) there should be next to no issue adding the ability for Bedrock players to join Java Edition servers and viceversa. There is even a Minecraft Bedrock server software called Nukkit which, despite being developed in Java, is made for Bedrock (C++) clients to join, and in fact implements the native Bedrock protocol.

The difference in language has no relevance to multiplayer compatibility: in fact online gaming relies entirely on a protocol (netty) which abstracts away the clientside code from the server side one. Java and Bedrock most likely will never be compatible though.

Some prefer a split-screen, console multiplayer experience, others like me usually have their own laptop over so we just connect to a local LAN * (edit: local LAN is like writing lol out loud) and play (not that it couldn't be done on Windows 10 Edition, it's just simpler to find and install great maps like Diversity or Terra Restore and to my experience less error-prone, without all that buggy Xbox account BS). Again, for Mac, Linux and Windows <10 users Bedrock stays a non-option, as it does for those who want a truly immersive VR experience (where ViveCraft is king and Win10 Edition doesn't quite cut it).įor when you're locally playing with friends, it highly depends on how you're used to playing.

(#spoiler) = neat! (/rose) = ( full list)Īnother aspect is that people who have been playing Minecraft for a long while will probably stick to what they have (likely Java) due to the sheer amount of worlds, server progress, resource packs and other content they have accumulated over the years.
